Counselling

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist who has been practicing counselling for 15 years. If you have ever been to the doctor and asked her to refer you for counselling you may probably have been referred to a six week course of CTB.

Despite assurances from government that mental health is being prioritised, it is clear that we have a long way to go before counselling is offered in every GP surgery on the NHS.

This means that if you want a more in depth and sustained therapy then you will most probably have to pay for it.

You will not receive a label or diagnosis if you attend counselling. A label tells me nothing about a person except that their current behaviour fits a description in the DSM 5, it tells me nothing about how they got there……….

and I know that if I were seeking help from a mental health professional a label might not make me feel safe, it would probably make me feel that I know less about myself than somebody else does and this might be a potentially dangerous thing for me.

I offer specialist counselling to children, adolescents, individuals, children and families. I will help you see past the descriptions and labels and help you interpret you behaviour for yourself. I have no preconceptions and it is not on my agenda to make you see the world in any particular way.

If you are interested in finding out about what counselling can do for you, or someone you love, why not get in touch and we can talk through your options.
