Hello! I’m Guy
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
My name is Guy Payne, I am a counsellor and psychotherapist, welcome to my web site.
I started life in Lagos, Nigeria in 1965 and I first came to live in the UK in 1972 at the age of seven. I still remember adjusting to my new life Dorset and the sun and the sea remain important parts of my life today.
I started my professional life in 1989 as a teacher of English, however, I have always had a passion for helping people of all ages to feel heard and understood and in 2001, I qualified as a therapist and counsellor.
Since then I have gained extensive experience and training and I still wake up each day feeling excited by my profession.
My goal is simple, to provide you, or someone you love, with counselling that quickly and comfortably enables you to authentically interpret your feelings and to help you find compassionate and useful ways to stay emotionally happy and healthy.

“We are an Academy where the support we are able to provide our students is key to the ethos of the organisation – we talk of no student being left behind, of no barrier being insurmountable, of barriers to educational achievement being removed as far as is possible – Mr Payne’s input is central to that ethos and our vision statement.
In an era where the demands on students are increasing daily in terms of academic and social achievement, Mr Payne’s service has proved essential – I cannot recommend it highly enough.
If you require any more information please do not hesitate to contact me.”
“I contacted Guy to ask him to help my wife and I through a very tough time in our lives. Guy is a sensitive and careful listener, who assessed every situation with understanding and empathy and he never took sides.
He found ways to help us see situations more clearly and he provided a stable environment for my wife and I to openly share our feelings. Guy has been hugely supportive and we came to trust him implicitly in our therapy sessions.”
“I went to see Guy at a time when I was really struggling with life. Guy calmly and patiently helped me. He was non-judgemental and our sessions allowed me to understand myself in a way that proved very positive for me.”
